01/03/26 Sun. We went over to the yacht club this morning, had a
good breakfast before going to the hangar and packing up our gear,
wheeling it along the jetty to the pontoon at the end. Did a
couple of more sewing job preparations in the yacht club and then
transported the machine and genoa sail back to the boat.
02/03/26 Mon. Finished off the hand stitching of the clew end of
the genoa sail just as it got too dark to continue!
03/03/26 Tues. We hoisted the genoa early this morning before the
sun made things too hot, and furled it up. Went over to the yacht
club so that Ana could cut material for John's mattress covers.
10/03/26 Tues. Ana has spent the last week making mattress/seat
covers for John and Vanessa, which now have to have additional covers
made for bedding. We've also made a few trips into town for shopping and
printing of new crew lists etc to accommodate Ana's new passport. Also
bought 60 litres of diesel and 10 litres of petrol in advance of the
expected price hike. Today is very windy, with constant winds of 25
knots gusting 30+.
15/03/26 Sun. The wind picked up on Friday, blew 35 knots all
day, all night and all Saturday. Today it's dropped a little so we
don't have the sound of wind in the rigging constantly. The Philippines
are experiencing some of the coldest weather for a long time and it's
certainly noticeable here in PP, having to wear t-shirts in the cockpit
when the wind is off the mountains. Diesel prices have gone up from 59
pesos per litre (on arrival) to 89.
21/03/26 Sat. The weather has warmed up this last couple of
days and the winds have dropped. Ana has almost finished John and
Vanessa's sewing jobs and we can soon start to prepare for departure.
Yesterday in town, I noticed that diesel has now gone up to 107 pesos
per litre.
27/03/26 Fri. Today we went to the Immigration Office to get info
about checking out. My visa expires on the 4th and with Easter
upon us, the office will be closed for a few days. i don't want to
extend another month as that takes me over 6 months which means having
to get a police exit clearance on top of all the other paperwork. They
said we could come on Monday and check out. Customs and Quarantine
will come to the boat at 10am on Monday also. We then needed to go
to a solicitor's office to get a 'care' affidavit for Ana, another
example of citizens being prisoners in their own country. We had
no small change for either a trike or a jeepney, so went into Robinson's
supermarket, picked up some milk and queued up at the till, when we
reached the front the cashier told us the till was for black card
holders only and they couldn't accept cash. I lost it at that point,
told her they could stick their milk and walked out. We then went
back to the yacht club, got some change and another trike into town to
the solicitors. All sorted now! Diesel is now 126.6 peso per litre
and airlines are cancelling flights each day because of the fuel crisis.
30/03/26 Mon. Customs and Quarantine came to the boat this
morning, fill out all the paperwork and paid the 5,130 pesos 'fee'.
We then went to the Immigration Office and filled out more forms before
finally getting our passports stamped with the exit stamp.
