01/11/25 Sat.
Everyone is watching typhoon Tino forming in the Philippine Sea with the
possibility it will head our way and hit Palawan.
03/11/25 Mon. Picked
up my visa from Immigration this morning. It looks almost certain that
Tino will make landfall in the north of Palawan, it has already caused a
great deal of damage in Cebu. Divers checked our mooring and we doubled
up our mooring lines. We hoisted the dinghy and lashed it down on deck
and took down any awnings that may catch the wind. During the evening,
the winds accelerated and we started to pitch up and down in the waves
from the SW.
04/11/25 Tues. We had
hardly any sleep last night, visibility was down to about twenty yards
in torrential rain, the waves were approx. 1 metre high and we were
pitching a great deal. Some boats dragged, colliding with other boats
and two were severely damaged, the mast coming down on one. By late
afternoon, the worst had passed and things started to calm down.
06/11/25 Thurs. Now
another typhoon is coming, this one is very big but the tracking shows
it a little further north and looks like it will hit Luzon above Manila.
08/11/25 Sat. We went
over to John's boat today to help with an engine problem. His newly
overhauled stbd engine will not start. neither I nor his mechanic James
can figure out the problem at the moment.
09/11/25 Sun. Over
on John's boat again today. Still no luck with the engine, ran a
compression test and reset the valve tappet clearance. Injector timing
is, in my opinion, out by a long way - perhaps I will have a look
tomorrow when James is away on another job! Typhoon Uwan is now at the
eastern coast of Luzon and the winds here are increasing, so it looks
like tonight could be another sleepless one.
26/11/25 Weds. Daily
life goes on! Another tropical depression passed over us yesterday and
today we have the backlash of it with the winds causing some pitching up
and down. Yesterday, we went to Immigration and applied for another
extension and have to go back on Friday to collect it. Also, we finally
got John's engine running, it turned out to be the fuel injection
limiter, which someone in the past had taken apart and left out some
parts on reassembly.
28/11/25 Fri.
Collected my visa from Immigration in Robinsons Mall but no ID card yet,
that will take about 3 weeks to arrive from Manila.
